Don't start from scratch. Continue the care.
Most adoptions begin with a blank slate: you may not know what they eat, when their last shots were, or what they're on. If your new animal came from an organization on Petto, none of that is unknown. Their record is waiting for you, and it keeps going in your own Petto.
What you'll know on day one
You'll know what they've had, what they're on, and what's due next, from the day you bring them home.
- ·Every vet visit, with what was done and what was found
- ·Every vaccine, with the date and when the next one is due
- ·Current medications, with the dose and how often
- ·Lab results, with the reference ranges and what they mean in plain language
- ·What they eat, how much, and the routine they are used to
- ·Weight over time, and the notes their foster left for you
You'll see the care that was recorded. Where the organization kept a full record, it comes with the animal; where it didn't, Petto helps you start one.
How it works
- 1
Look for the link.
Organizations on Petto send a link, and a code in the adoption packet, when an animal goes home. That link opens the record that is already waiting for you.
- 2
Claim the record.
Create your Petto account and the animal is already in it, with its history. Nothing to type in, nothing to hunt for. Your first six months are included.
- 3
Keep it going.
Drop in the paperwork from your first vet visit and Petto reads it into the same record. Share it with your vet, your sitter, or your family in seconds.
We give six months of Petto with every adoption because an animal that comes with its story is easier to keep healthy.
One record, every hand: intake, foster, adopter, and your vet. The animal never starts over.
Fostering? The record is yours while they're with you.
When an organization on Petto places an animal with you, you get their record from day one: what they eat, what they're on, what's due. Log what you see, and everything you add stays with the animal when they go back or move on to their forever home.
And while you foster, Petto is free for your own animals too.
